Land Accelerator

The Land Accelerator is a business growth and innovation track for land restoration and regenerative agriculture enterprises, implemented by AAA in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI).

We aim to scale climate-smart, financially viable land restoration businesses that deliver positive environmental and social impact.

A structured accelerator

The programme runs as a structured accelerator rather than a workshop series. Participating enterprises work through:

• business modelling;
• financial projections a lender can read;
• impact measurement that stands up to scrutiny;
• pitching and storytelling;
• direct exposure to restoration financiers at the end of the track.

Restoration as an enterprise

A hillside is restored because somebody has a reason to keep restoring it. Nurseries, agroforestry ventures, fodder producers and processors only sustain that work if the unit economics hold — so the accelerator treats a restoration enterprise as an enterprise first.

Part of AAA’s work sits in the Lake Kivu and Rusizi River Basin, a landscape shared by Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and one of three priority landscapes under WRI’s Restore Local initiative, alongside Kenya’s Greater Rift Valley and the Ghana Cocoa Belt. Dense population, steep terrain and heavy soil loss across three national borders mean that no single country’s programme can solve the problem alone.
