AAA took part as a member of the Country Agribusiness Partnership Framework (CAP-F) Secretariat in the CAP-F Secretariat and Design Workshop, convened by the Agriculture Transformation Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, GIZ and AUDA-NEPAD.
The workshop brought together government, private-sector and non-state actors to align the proposed CAP-F governance framework and examine how it can support implementation of the NASIP flagships, including the mobilisation and coordination of blended finance.
The practical question
At the centre of the discussions was a practical question: how can Kenya build a partnership system that does not stop at consultation, but consistently converts agricultural priorities into bankable investments and functioning enterprises?
A blended-finance mechanism may be well designed, but it will achieve little if promising SMEs cannot meet its application requirements. A national flagship may attract substantial investment, but its impact will be limited if local enterprises cannot take part in supply contracts, value addition, service delivery and market development. Bridging this gap requires more than capital: agripreneurs need investment-readiness support, credible financial records, stronger governance and market relationships.
A plan does not transform a food system. Transformation begins when institutions coordinate, investment reaches viable enterprises and agripreneurs are equipped to turn capital into results.
