Across Africa, agribusiness practitioners face similar challenges: enterprises that need stronger business systems, farmer organisations seeking better markets, young entrepreneurs working to turn ideas into viable businesses, and value chains that need more specialised technical support. The expertise to address many of these challenges already exists across the continent. What is often missing is a structured way to connect it.
Following an initial online introduction, a delegation from AAA Kenya met the International Agribusiness Practitioners Association (IAPA) in Nairobi on 28 May 2026. The discussions explored how the two organisations could combine their networks, institutional experience and technical expertise to create greater value for agripreneurs and agribusiness professionals.
Potential areas of cooperation include joint training programmes, professional development for practitioners, networking among sector actors, knowledge exchange, and the joint design and implementation of initiatives that strengthen agricultural entrepreneurship and value-chain development.
About IAPA
IAPA is a pan-African network of professionals involved in agribusiness training, enterprise development and agricultural value-chain support. It evolved from the Agribusiness Master Trainer Network established by GIZ in 2017, and brings together more than 70 certified Master Trainers from over 20 African countries.
What this could mean for AAA members
An enterprise in Isiolo that needs help with product standardisation, or a cooperative in Garissa working towards certification, should not be limited to the expertise available in its own county or country. A functioning practitioner network makes it possible to match a specific enterprise problem with someone who has already solved it elsewhere on the continent.
Africa does not lack agribusiness expertise. The opportunity is to connect it, strengthen it and place it where enterprises need it most.
