AAA took part in the 3rd Sokoni Agribusiness Expo, held under the theme Value Addition: A Pathway for Jobs, Income and Inclusive Growth. The Expo brought together agribusiness entrepreneurs, farmers, innovators, investors, development partners and policymakers to explore practical solutions for transforming Africa’s agrifood systems.
As an exhibitor and ecosystem partner, AAA hosted several agribusinesses in its exhibition space, giving them a platform to showcase their products and services, meet buyers and investors, and engage a wide network of stakeholders.
Exhibitors from counties across Kenya showcased value-added products including nutritious foods, beverages, spices, natural beauty products and agribusiness services. Discussions covered access to finance, market linkages, logistics, quality standards, climate-smart technologies, digital marketing and youth entrepreneurship, as well as business formalisation, collective action and investment in shared infrastructure.
The takeaway
Value addition can significantly increase farmers’ incomes while creating jobs and strengthening local economies. Stronger market connections, better branding and continuous capacity building are what enable agribusinesses to compete regionally and internationally.
Youth made up 55% of participants and women 35%.
