On 14 March 2026, AAA joined Kilimora, A Community Systems Hub (ACSH) CBO, the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance Kenya, Aglomay Seedlings Farm and the Kiambu County Government for the Environmental Care and Scaling Up Nutrition Advocacy and Tree Planting Activity at the ACSH Community Garden in Muthiga, Kikuyu.
The initiative brought together more than 100 farmers and community members for a hands-on session on environmental conservation, agroforestry, nutrition-sensitive agriculture and community-led climate action. More than 1,000 fruit tree seedlings — avocado, mango, guava, citrus and tree tomato — were distributed to promote farm diversification, improve household nutrition and strengthen climate resilience.
Training under PrAEctiCe
As a technical partner under the PrAEctiCe project, AAA delivered practical training on agroecology, sustainable land management, agroforestry, climate resilience and seedling establishment. Farmers learned to integrate fruit trees into their farming systems to improve soil health, conserve biodiversity, retain water and raise long-term productivity.
The event received strong support from the Kiambu County Government. The County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change committed additional seedlings to support future restoration across the county.
What the partnership model shows
Six organisations, one afternoon and a single community garden. Restoration reaches scale not through any one actor’s budget, but through county government, civil society, seedling suppliers and technical partners each contributing what they already have — and through farmers who can see the household benefit of a fruit tree long before they see the climate one.
