After three and a half years of collaboration, innovation and learning, AAA is proud to celebrate the successful completion of PrAEctiCe — Potentials of Agroecological Practices in East Africa with a Focus on Circular Water-Energy-Nutrient Systems.
Co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme, PrAEctiCe brought together 16 research institutions, universities, government agencies and development organisations from Europe and Africa. The project ran from November 2022 to April 2026 with a shared vision of equipping smallholder farmers with practical, science-based agroecological solutions.
The project developed an agroecology indicator framework and a decision-support tool to help extension officers identify suitable practices for different local contexts. A key focus was circular water-energy-nutrient systems through integrated aqua-agriculture. Solutions were validated through Living Labs in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, while regional trainings, student exchanges and a cascading train-the-trainer approach strengthened knowledge exchange.
As a consortium partner, AAA strengthened knowledge dissemination, stakeholder engagement and capacity building, making sure project outputs reached farmers, agripreneurs and extension service providers across the region.
